BLENHEIM, Ontario – Following the cancellation of the Antique Automobile Club of America’s (AACA) Annual Fall Meet earlier this summer, RM Sotheby’s has decided to postpone and transition its 14th annual live Hershey auction into an Online Only auction, dubbed Online Only: Open Roads, Fall. The auction house came to the decision to cancel its live auction as a precautionary step to safeguard the health and well-being of its clients, auction visitors, and staff. Held via RM Sotheby’s proprietary online platform on rmsothebys.com, the Open Roads, Fall auction will bookend the company’s auction calendar for 2020 as the 20th auction to be held via the company’s Online Only platform since its launch in late 2019.
Open for bidding at 1:00 pm EDT on 12 November and closing in a staggered format beginning at 11:00 am EDT on 19 November, the Online Only: Open Roads, Fall auction will feature a wide variety of collector cars spanning the spectrum of the market. While the Brass Era and pre-war classics traditionally seen at the company’s live Hershey auction will still be abundantly present, the online auction will also see the addition of several other categories of collector cars including American muscle and racing cars, European sports cars and modern collectibles, with a total of approximately 120 cars set to cross the virtual block.
Each lot offered in the Online Only: Open Roads, Fall auction will be presented with comprehensive photography and in most cases will be accompanied by condition reports completed by RM Sotheby’s specialists as well as catalogue descriptions. Where available, additional information on each lot, such as history files and accompanying receipts or documentation can be viewed online, once logged in to rmsothebys.com, by clicking the “View Files” button on the individual lot page.
