Sotheby’s is pleased to present Art of the Americas, Featuring the American West during Visions of America on January 24, 2025.
A thoughtfully curated selection of important American paintings, drawings, photography and sculpture will
be featured in this year’s Visions of America week. Entitled Art of the Americas, Featuring the American
West, this live auction will celebrate prominent artists of American, Canadian and Latin American descent.
With a focus on nineteenth century landscapes, still life, portraiture, and historical subject matter, this sale
will highlight a wide array of artistry and innovation across the Americas. Through the inclusion of a
dedicated session of American Western art within this year’s sale, we will showcase important artworks by
Frederic Remington, Albert Bierstadt, Eanger I. Couse and many others whose illustrations and sculptures
honor the beauty and grandeur of the western frontier.

Visions of America, the second chapter of building on the success and acclaim of last year’s groundbreaking debut, presented in partnership with Cadillac. This exceptional week-long event will feature a curated selection of American craftsmanship from prominent private collections and institutions, offering a dynamic blend of auctions, exhibitions, and immersive experiences that celebrate the full breadth and depth of American artistry.
This year, renowned designer and creative director Ken Fulk joins Visions of America as guest curator, bringing his unique vision to the event. Known for his transportive creations and signature “magic-making,”

Led by Martin Johnson Heade’s Hummingbirds and Gold and Purple Orchids, session one will feature historical works of art celebrating the landscapes, people and culture of the Americas. Session two will center on fine art of the American West from historical to present day and is highlighted by Albert Bierstadt’s sublime painting, Yosemite.
“It is a true privilege to continue presenting an extraordinary collection of best-in-class objects that
encapsulate the spirit of American artistry. After the remarkable success of its debut, ‘Visions of America’
enters its second year, reaffirming its place as a celebration of craftsmanship and innovation across
centuries, and redefining how American art and objects are experienced.”
